Questions IV

1.  Why should you use an external microphone? -You can select the best  type  of microphone from a vast assortment of professional microphones to fit the recording setting, subject, and application. -You will have greater control over the placement of the microphone and its proximity to the subject, irrespective of where the sound or video recording device is located. -All things being equal, a professional external microphone will have better sound recording specs than the built-in-microphone attached to your device. -Professional external microphones use a balanced XLR connector, which is better for reducing RF interference and other types of transmission noise.  2. What are the two ways to monitor your audio recording?  I. The objective act of measuring sound intensity and setting the record levels.  II. The subjective act of listening to the audio signal as it is being recorded.

Microphones

Handheld Microphones are best used for a talent or performer to hold durning a recording session. Lavalier Microphones are best used for  hands free operation and is a popular choice for recording interviews. Shotgun Microphones are among the most directional microphones. They are mostly used for on-camera purposes for films. Boundary Microphones are usually used to record meetings and conferences and are good for recording multiple people at the same time.

Questions III

1. Describe the steps for adjusting the white balance on a camcorder or digital film camera. -Locate the white balance settings on your camera and select the manual or custom WB option. On higher-end cameras, WB controls are often found on the exterior on the camera body. On less expensive cameras, be prepared to delve into the onboard menu system. -Have the subject or an assistant aim a white card or sheet of paper at  the  camera. The card should reflect the same light source hitting the subject... -Zoom in on the card to fill 80%-100% of the frame with white. Be sure your exposure and focus settings are properly set. If the image is too dark or out of focus, the camera may not be able to perform the operation. -Press and hold the Set button until the camera confirms that white balance has been acquired. if the color temperature has changed dramatically from the last time you performed white balance, you may actually notice a color shift in the viewfinder. But don't worry

Questions II

1.  Why should you avoid using autofocus when doing videography? -Auto focus may  acquire  focus on the wrong subject within the frame. -Auto focus may roll or shift as the subject moves within the frame. -Auto focus may not be able to stay focused on highly reflective or complex subjects. -Auto focus may not work at all in low-light or low-contrast situations. 2.   When is using the autofocus acceptable? As long as the lighting is good, the subject-camera distance is relatively stable, and there isn't a lot of visual complexity or movement within the frame, autofocus can yield acceptable results. 3.  What are the 4 steps to properly set your focus manually when shooting a static subject (such as an interview)? STEP I: Compose your shot. Make sure the camera is set to MF mode. STEP II: Next, zoom in as far as you can on the subject's eyes. STEP III: Adjust the focus control until the eyes are sharply in focus. Moving quickly back and forth in smaller sweeps can hel

Exposure Triangle

The Exposure Triangle is simply the relationship between ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture as they work together to create an actual exposure or photograph.  One must balance all three of these to achieve a desired result, an adjustment of one requiring adjustments of at least one of the others. ISO determines how sensitive your camera is to the light. A more sensitive sensor means that less light has to be captured by the sensor to get the correct exposure. Aperture  is the size of the opening in the lens when a picture is taken. Shutter Speed is t he amount of time that the shutter is open. It is measured in seconds, usually varying from thousandths of a second through to full seconds.

Questions

Image
1.  What is meant by White Balancing a camera? White balance  is the process of removing unrealistic color casts, so that objects which appear  white  in person are rendered  white  in your photo. 2. What is considered the "golden hour"? The golden hour is a period shortly after sunrise or before sunset during which daylight is redder and softer than when the Sun is higher in the sky.  3.  What is the color temperature of daylight, and what is its general hue? Daylight has a correlated color temperature of  6500 K  or  5500 K  and has a white hue. 4.  What is the color temperature of an interior fluorescent light, and what is its general hue? Fluorescent light has a color temperature between  3,400 degrees Kelvin  and  4,800 degrees Kelvin , depending on the type of bulbs in the fixtures. Its general hue is a grayish blue color. 5.  Embed an image of incorrect white balance.

Aspect Ratio

Image
Aspect Ratio is an image projection attribute that describes the proportional relationship between the width of an image and its height. 10" tablet (9.7" display)            4:3 Smartphone (4.7" display)           16:9 Leaderboard Ad            4:3 HDTV            16:9 Interlaced scanning is simply displaying alternating sets of lines. Progressive video on the other hand displays the entire image in 1/60th of a second.

Graphic and Image

Image
Graphics  are any types of visual presentation that can be displayed on a a physical surface such as a sheet of paper, wall, poster, blackboard, or computer monitor.   Images  are two or three dimensional representations of a person, animal, object, or scene in the natural world. Images can be still or moving. Graphics can be anything from how something looks to artworks of different kinds (picture, photo, chart, drawing, etc). Image means the representation of visual information such as graphs, pictures, logos, videos, drawings etc. The difference between Vector  and  Raster graphics is that raster graphics are composed of pixels, while vector graphics are composed of paths.  Advantages (Raster):   *Raster graphics are great when creating rich and detailed images.  Every pixel in a raster image can be a different color therefore you can create a complex image with any kind of color changes and variations. * Almost any program can work with a simple raster file. Kerning and Leading

Image
Kerning is the process of  adjusting of the space between letters in a typeface, to make them visually spaced correctly.  Kerning  adjusts the space between individual letter forms, while tracking (letter-spacing) adjusts spacing uniformly over a range of characters. Without Kerning, it would be hard to read words because all the letters would be too close together. Leading is an essential design aspect that determines how text is spaced vertically in lines. Leading is important keeping lines a certain distance away. If lines where too close together of to far apart, it could confuse readers and cause eye strain.
