Exposure Triangle

The Exposure Triangle is simply the relationship between ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture as they work together to create an actual exposure or photograph. One must balance all three of these to achieve a desired result, an adjustment of one requiring adjustments of at least one of the others.

ISO determines how sensitive your camera is to the light. A more sensitive sensor means that less light has to be captured by the sensor to get the correct exposure.

Aperture is the size of the opening in the lens when a picture is taken.

Shutter Speed is the amount of time that the shutter is open. It is measured in seconds, usually varying from thousandths of a second through to full seconds.
